The successful candidate will be responsible for multi-line strategic growth and profitability for the defined region. A strong sales coach and mentor, the incumbent carries overall responsibility for region operations and performance management. The scope includes the development of sales strategies, creation of marketing plans in conjunction with Corporate Marketing and Communications to augment brand awareness through events, sponsorships and campaigns, defining new segments for the region based on market potential and recommending new branch locations as appropriate. The incumbent is accountable for working with the multi-line sales teams to develop client relationships (both organic growth and new business) and ensuring client satisfaction through operational excellence. Accountable for the development and delivery of sales analysis, forecasting and reporting enables a fact based approach to complement defined sales strategies. Development of account plans and working with the teams to develop sales plans and objectives (i.e. volume, business development plans, market penetration) will help to highlight growth potential and support the definition of priorities. Talent acquisition, development, coaching and mentoring, succession and retention of the employees is an integral part of the job.


  • A minimum of 7 -10 years of sales management or business development leadership experience, ideally in the
  • Property and Casualty industry.  Strong market relationships with underwriters would be an asset;
  • An in-depth knowledge of consulting and wealth management;
  • Experience leading and managing people;
  • Superior judgment, business acumen combined with the commercial insurance technical skills or ability to gain
  • knowledge of insurance contracts, loss control and risk management;
  • Collaboration and influencing skills including a demonstrated track record of having established strong internal
  • and external relationships at all levels, along with a track record of building long standing relationships with
  • clients;
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills to identify opportunities for growth;
  • Provided strong leadership and guidance to an integrated team of self-motivated individuals and sales
  • professionals to reinforce and deliver on important initiatives and to consistently meet or exceed performance
  • expectations;
  • This individual will have a track record of identifying and mentoring sales leaders and support staff who are
  • poised for development and growth;
  • Hired, coached, motivated, developed and evaluated the performance of direct reports and provide guidance and
  • mentoring to those direct reports in the resolution of complex issues;
  • Established and maintained managerial practices/processes in order to build a high performance work
  • environment. He/she must be a motivational leader who will share best practices and cross training within the
  • organization;
  • A demonstrated ability to work as a team member in an intellectually vibrant, collaborative and growth oriented
  • environment;
  • An engaging, approachable, open and transparent style and will thrive on a high level of interaction with others
  • With strong decision making skills, he/she is an active listener and strives to fully understand problems and
  • issues at hand within an accountability structure;
  • Strong networking and business development skills;
  • RIBO licensed;
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License.
