Supervisor, Group Benefits Administration

Position summary:       

Reporting to the Director, Third Party Insurance Services, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient

operation of the Group Benefits Administration department on a day-to-day basis and provide support to the

team members. The Group Benefits Administration department is responsible for offering services and support

to clients and plan members, in administrating their Group Benefits plan, as per the service agreements.

Responsible for the enrolment and correspondence related to the administration of the insured’s file. You

will develop measures and processes to track service standards and to identify opportunities to improve

services while working to achieve the department’s objectives in a fast-paced work environment.

Who you are:               

You are a hands-on individual with strong communication, analytical and organizational skills who will

manage and direct the daily activities of TPA Admin services while overseeing specific marquee customer

needs.  The primary objective of this position is to maintain services standards related to TPA Admin

services and lead and mentor employees and ensure that they have the appropriate tools and support. 

The supervisor is also a vital member of the TPA/TPP team, and as such, will work closely on matters

pertaining to customer, partner and insurer relations, overall. 

What you will achieve in your role:

  • Monitor, adapt and implement procedures to meet changing client needs;
  • Ensure that service quality standards are met while adhering to the service agreements;
  • Manage department workload and remain up to date with current turnaround times;
  • Ensure that employees respond to internal and external requests in a timely manner;
  • Coordinate employee training and provide ongoing coaching and feedback;
  • Manage staff effectively and ensure departmental staffing;
  • Liaising with the IT department and external providers to troubleshoot system issues and identify new automation opportunities;
  • Participate in new client implementations and bring forward creative ideas and solutions;
  • Prepare client reports for internal and external use;
  • Resolve escalated client and member issues and communicate with clients, specifically identified marquee clients;
  • Liaising with other departments ensuring open communication and issues are handled accordingly;
  • Ensure that procedures and practices remain current with industry and insurer standards;
  • Ensure a good use of all resources and re-assign resources pro-actively;
  • Participate in external audits.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Group Benefits Administration and/or in the insurance industry;
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite- Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience;
  • Familiar and comfortable with technology and general technical functionalities;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, act as a role model and motivate a team;
  • Solid analytical and reporting capabilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build solid relationships;
  • Ability to view situations in an objective manner;
  • Superior prioritization and multi-tasking skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills;
  • Dedicated and organized, with demonstrated accountability and reliability in the quality and timeliness of work;
  • Effective prioritization and follow up with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Ability to multi task and work in a high stress and fast pace environment.
