Business Analyst

Job Summary  :          

The successful candidate will use business, insurance and technology knowledge to serve as a liaison between business units and IT. He/she will collaborate with business and technical resources to determine business information and application needs as well as assist business units in analysis, review, documentation, testing and follow through. He/she will coordinate and lead activities with business owners to gather requirements, monitor business decisions, manage documentation and communication, obtain feedback and manage the change process while implementing the project plan(s) and providing technical advice. The incumbent will understand customers' objectives, processes, products and services, will anticipate customer needs, monitor trends and make recommendations as well as maintain positive customer relationships.  This role will occasionally require the incumbent to assist with Quality Assurance (QA) planning and execution.


  • University/college degree or equivalent related experience
  • CIP or working towards would be an asset
  • 5+ years of prior work experience in a Business Analyst Role
  • Experience with multiple business lines and processes
  • SQL experience, project experience, data analysis an asset
  • Previous experience within the insurance industry and group benefits administration is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate requirement gathering sessions and create the documentation for stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of software quality assurance concepts and standards, software change management, software processes, software development lifecycles, Agile and Waterfall testing methodologies and SQA documentation
  • Proven ability to co-ordinate with technical leads on other project teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and pressured environment
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills with attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office products with an advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent time management and judgment skills
  • Excellent English communication skills, written and oral; French is an asset.
