Assistant Controller

Job Summary: Reporting to the SVP Finance, the Assistant Controller is a senior member of the finance team providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to a team of front line supervisors within the Finance department with responsibility for internal and external reporting, accounting, financial administration and planning.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Audit

  • Preparation of annual financial statements for entities within the group and various levels of consolidation ensuring completeness, accuracy and adequacy of working papers
  • Manage the audit process for the group and ensure all audit requirements are fulfilled

Accounting and Control

  • Ensure accounting records are maintained to meet external and internal reporting requirements
  • Maintain a robust control environment with appropriate documentation
  • Financial Administration
  • Manage AP, AR, intercompany charges and banking for a number of entities within the group  
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and to strengthen internal controls

Management Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial and management reports and analysis to support internal and parent company reporting requirements
  • Provide support to the Leadership for the development of metrics, financial modeling and other ad hoc analysis.
  • Report on the status of key group initiatives


  • Manage the budget planning process for the group in accordance with the timelines and templates required by the parent company.  Ensure all necessary reviews take place and that management is prepared for parent company reviews
  • Support the development of business cases to justify significant investment proposals


  • A university degree with a professional finance designation with 2+ years of progressive post qualification experience
  • Public accounting background with exposure to mid-sized private companies
  • Financial services experience an advantage
  • Experience of developing and maintaining internal financial controls
  • Ability to operate at a senior level, but with a hands on approach and comfortable with managing detail
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
