Marketing Communications and Events Coordinator (18 month contract)

Job Summary:  The Marketing Communications and Events Coordinator is responsible for developing, writing and editing communications material as required in support of the Cowan Insurance Group’s Marketing and Communications team. This role will also assist with the planning, production, promotion, and overall coordination of Cowan Insurance Group events. The Coordinator is expected to liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders, in both the development of written marketing material (print & digital) as well as providing support to all team members to ensure successful events. Sourcing venues, liaising with exhibitors, developing promotional material and overseeing Cowan Insurance Group events are required tasks for this role. The Coordinator will also be responsible for documenting and establishing templates, project plans and process binders for events as required. The Coordinator will also evaluate sponsorship requests, coordinating a Cowan presence at tradeshows, conferences and other third party industry events. Other duties will be assigned as necessary including the following:

  • Manage internal and external event communications.
  • Help manage the coordination of events including conferences, seminars, dinners.
  • Manage vendors and suppliers.
  • Source venues, obtain quotes and conduct site visits.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate event files.
  • Liaise with the events team and stakeholders throughout the entire process.
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of materials to events.
  • Periodically provide administrative support to other members of event planning staff.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan.
  • Supervise the development and production of promotional materials and presentations.
  • Produce reports on events which include obstacles and opportunities encountered.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.

Qualifications:            

  • Secondary School Diploma required.
  • Post Secondary School Diploma in Business, Marketing, Public Relations or related field required.
  • 3-5 years' event coordination or management experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years' fundraising experience considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Superior people and relationship management skills
  • Strong negotiating capabilities
